Registration for Winter 2018 starts Monday, December 11th!


Red Cross Water Safety Instructor

The Canadian Red Cross has revised their swimming and Water Safety Instructor Development Program which is being introduced in January 2016. The Red Cross has been working hard to preserve the quality of instructors by modernizing the program. As of January 2016, the course will look a little different. There will no longer be an AWSI (Assistant Water Safety Instructor), it will just consist of the Water Safety Instructor Course.

There will now be 4 components to the program: (1) Water Safety skills testing evaluation. (2) Online Component (3) In Person Component (4) Practice teaching Component.

The classroom work will consist of 20 hours at the pool, eight hours of this being practice teaching. Prerequisites for the program: (1) Must be 15. (2) Must have one of the following certifications before completion: Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid, Assisted Lifeguard, or Lifeguard.

The Bronze Star

The first level of our Bronze medal family, Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. Bronze Medallion is not a required course for entering into Bronze Medallion unless the participant is under the age of 13. Prerequisites: Minimum age 11 and ability to perform select skills. Course Manual included in cost. Taxes are not included in pricing

The Bronze Medallion and Basic First Aid 

Bronze Medallion is a pre-requisite for the Bronze Cross Award. Prerequisites: Minimum age 13 years unless completed Bronze Star. Taxes are not included in pricing

The Bronze Cross

Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training, including and introduction to the safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion. Please bring your certification card to class. Taxes are not included in pricing

National Lifeguard Society

This is a nationally recognized lifeguard certification program. NLS is deisgned to develop a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgement, and a mature and responsible attitude towards the role of a lifeguard. Lifeguards are water rescue professionals trained in emergency care. Their primary role is the prevention of emergency situations and, where this fails, the timely and effective resolution of emergencies. Lifeguarding deals with aspects of team building, water chemistry, public relations, legal liability, emergency prevention, rescue, and followup. Standard first aid is also included in this course.

Lifeguarding is a fun, exciting, and rewarding job that carries enormous responsibility. 100% attendance and participation is mandatory. Prerequisites: Must hold Bronze Cross and be minimum 16 years of age. Course Manual included in cost. Taxes are not included in pricing
